Anna Cierpisz

A graduate of the Academy of Music in Łódź, where she studied cello with Stanisław Firlej and baroque cello with  Jakub Kościukiewicz, she also pursued further studies with Gaetano Nasillo at the Guido Cantelli Conservatory in Novara, Italy. For over a decade, she has been actively performing in Poland and abroad, collaborating with most of the leading Polish early music ensembles. Her musical sensibility has been shaped through work with renowned authorities in historically informed performance such as Jörg-Andreas Bötticher, Alfredo Bernardini, Olivia Centurioni, Enrico Onofri, Peter van Heyghen, and Gottfried von der Goltz.

She is a laureate of numerous competitions, including Second Prize at the 13th Internationaler Telemann-Wettbewerb in Magdeburg, and has been a member of the European Union Baroque Orchestra as well as a participant in the S-EEEmerging programme. She is also a co-founder of the young chamber ensembles Barque Ensemble and La Sensible. Since 2017, she has been a permanent member of Musicae Antiquae Collegium Varsoviense, the oldest early music ensemble in Poland, affiliated with the Warsaw Chamber Opera and Altberg Ensemble. 

She is one of the few cellists in Poland who also plays basse de violon and five-string cello.
